Windows 8 PDF printer driver installation instructions

The software will attempt to install the driver it requires automatically, however some copies of Windows 8 do not include any postscript drivers. In this case you will need to follow the instructions below to install the driver.

You will need to download the driver by clicking on the 'Download Driver' link for you version of Windows 8 below

Internet Explorer users should click the link and select the option to 'run'. If you are using a browser other than internet explorer you will need to consult your browsers instructions for downloading and runnning files.

Once the file has downloaded and run, click the 'Unzip' button. Click 'OK' to the confirmation box once it has finished.

Open Control Panel by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Control Panel in the search box, tapping or clicking Apps, and then tapping or clicking Control Panel.

Click on 'View devices and printers' under 'Hardware and Sound'.

Click the 'Add a printer' button at the top of the window.

Regardless of any printers that may appear in the search box, click the option at the bottom for 'The printer that I want isn't listed'.

Click the bullet point into the option for 'Add a local or network printer with manual settings'. Click 'Next'.

Click the drop down arrow at the edge of the box next to 'Use an existing port' and select the option for 'FILE: (Print to File)' from the list. Click 'Next'.

Click the 'Have Disk' button.

Click the 'Browse' button.

Click on 'Computer' on the left then double click on 'Local Disk (C:)' or which ever Hard Disk Drive has (C:) next to it

Double click on 'temp' then 'z58477L6' then 'x64' then 'Disk 1' and finally on 'RICSETUP64'.

Click on the option fo 'PS Driver for Universal Print' so that it is highlighted in blue then click 'Next'

Delete 'PS Driver for Universal Print' from the printer name box and replace it with 'Castline'. It's important that 'Castline' has a capital 'C'. Click 'Next' and the driver will begin installing, this may take a few minutes.

If you see the 'Printer sharing' window as below, check the bullet point for 'Do not share this printer'. Not all users will see this window.

Make sure that the box for 'Set as the default printer' is unchecked. Click finish to complete installation of the driver, you should now be able to print successfully from the software.
